最近の物価上昇の影響
Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast.
Hello.
Hello.
Alright.
Okay.
Pick something very recent.
Okay.
ケビンさん、ヤマちゃん、こんにちは。
こんにちは。
This is サッチさん。
I drink coffee every day just like Yama-chan, so I'm pretty good at it.
I'm going to look for cheap chocolate.
Yeah, I'll go check it out, see what it was.
You know, my image of like a Ghana chocolate bar was like 100 yen.
Yeah, the one plate.
Yeah, it's like one sheet of chocolate.
Right, me too. It's like 90 yen, 100 yen.
Something like that.
But I guess it's like, what, 200 now?
Wow, that's expensive.
But I would pay 200, definitely pay 200 for the quality.
That chocolate is $3.50 worth of chocolate.
Okay, is it?
It is. It is. It's so good. It's so good.
I see.
Yeah, for the coffee prices, yes, I think it's getting, I don't know.
Getting higher and higher.
Yeah, maybe.
Yeah.
True. Like years ago, if one cup of coffee costs like 1,200 yen,
that's like, wow, that's an expensive coffee.
But now it's like kind of average.
Yeah.
One cup, 1,200 yen.
It is.
Yeah.
Yeah, I understand.
It used to cost like 500 yen for one cup for like the basic general coffee.
Yeah.
But now it's like 800 yen.
Good eye is the average, I guess.
Right.
True, it's getting more expensive.
Yeah.
I buy Genmai regularly.
Yeah.
And that price has gone up drastically.
Oh, really?
Especially with the, you know, the Komesodo.
Oh, true.
Ever since then, that's gone up really high.
Yeah.
Can you imagine that?
Yeah.
Komesodo, yeah.
True.
Right.
Do you do anything to fight with those things?
No, I buy it.
You just keep buying it?
Yeah.
Because that's, Genmai, I kind of buy it for my health, so.
There's no choice.
Yeah, am I going to, no, I'm not going to.
Stop being healthy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I can't.
True.
Yeah.
Me too, buying coffee, but like buying like coffee beans, not like the liquid coffee.
You're right, right, right, right.
To keep it like cheaper.
Cheaper, yeah.
As much as possible, but yeah, still.
日本の物価上昇
The coffee bean shop that I'm buying every month, I guess that was four months, five months ago,
they announced that they're going to change the price.
Oh, okay.
And 500 yen up.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, okay.
It's coming.
Yeah, yeah, it's coming, it's coming, right, yeah.
Yeah, I think it's like facing down a little too much.
Uh-huh.
Yeah, yeah, there you go.
Yeah, I think that's better.
Thank you.
Yeah, yeah.
In America, my dad was saying, you know, America raising prices as well, right?
And many of the brands, because he's in the industry,
I think he kind of, I think he kind of half knows what's going behind.
You know how all the companies are like, oh, the, you know, the Yusouhi or the, you know,
Genzaideyohi and all that shit.
Koto Nyori, right?
Yeah, yeah.
Jinkenhi and all that stuff.
Even if you're not affected by any of it, the companies are like, hey, us too, gotta raise them.
Yeah.
All the companies are raising because everybody's raising.
So just gaining more profits is what many of the companies are doing, what my dad said.
I wonder if that's happening in Japan as well.
Well, I guess so.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But for me, I think Japan is much more careful with the raising prices, you know?
You know, it went viral, the Garigari-kun, when they raised prices,
all the shine, you know, sort of like apologized for raising the price several yen.
Right, right, right.
True.
Whereas like America, just, you don't, you know, you quietly, without telling anybody,
just 130% price, right?
That happens.
And it goes on the news a lot of the times, the evening shows, there's like,
It goes on the news every time companies raise prices.
So it's like, it's much more sensitive, Japan is, you know, to prices being raised, I feel like.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
Yeah.
But I think still Japan is a little bit cheaper.
Yes.
Like globally.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Don't you think?
I agree with that.
Yeah.
We're still very cheap range.
Yeah, very cheap.
Yeah.
Quality is very still high.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Very thankful for that.
Right.
Yeah.
Like for one plate of very good sushi, 1,800 yen, let's say.
Well, yeah, it's a bit expensive for one lunch, 1,800 yen for a lunch plate.
サイゼリアの驚くべき価格
It's expensive.
Yeah.
But like for foreigners, like 1,800 yen and you can experience like authentic sushi.
Right.
It's like...
Crazy.
I can eat every day.
Right.
1,800 yen for them is...
Nothing.
Yeah.
Su-hyakuen kind of feel like.
Right.
If you're kind of used to the current, you know, the rise of bukka in Japan, try going to Caesarea.
I went to Caesarea the other day.
Okay.
Boy, that place is living 20 years ago.
I swear to God.
Wow.
Their prices are so low.
Like you thought it was an average family restaurant like Denny's, John Finn's, you know, all that stuff, right?
No, Caesarea is different.
Caesarea is just on another level.
Different planet?
It's a different planet, man.
It's like...
Wow.
Yeah.
Me and my wife went there for dinner.
Yeah.
We ate a lot.
Yeah.
One plate, two plates each, and then like another plate to share.
Yeah.
That was like 1,600 yen.
What?
That's crazy, right?
Really?
That's crazy.
For dinner?
Yes.
Wow.
That's special.
That's special.
That's another level, man.
How can they do that?
I know.
Wow.
Wow, wow, wow.
Yeah.
That's great.
That's amazing.
It's crazy.
I'm surprised there aren't much foreigners there.
You know, I don't think they've discovered it yet.
That's good.
They said that the Caesarea, they're not like marketing and like they don't put any like advertisement and everything.
True.
I've never seen a commercial.
Yeah, so that's why they can cut the costs and make it cheaper.
So, it's a great deal for us.
I mean, I don't know if, like I feel bad for them.
Yeah.
Really?
Can you keep this up?
You know, but, you know, thank you for the effort.
Yeah.
I would love to visit Caesarea.
Yeah, and the food tastes great as well.
I mean, I had a chicken, I had their Diablo chicken.
Okay.
Oh, but it was so soft, man.
You should try it.
It's great.
And you can only pay.
I can only pay 1,600 yen.
That's crazy.
Yeah.
It's crazy.
It's amazing.
All right.
Thanks for sitting, guys.
Thank you.
Bye-bye.
