Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast.
Hello, hello.
Hello.
Alright.
This one.
Okay, this is from Tim Horton Lover.
Okay.
こんにちは。いつも楽しく学ばせてもらっています。
Thank you.
突然ですがお二人の一番最初の記憶は何ですか?
私は初めて歩いた時の揺れる視界と大騒ぎしている母たちの記憶です。
Wow, you remember when you first walked?
Yeah.
後から捏造したものでは?と自分でも疑わしいのですが、大人になり何歳くらいまで記憶を遡れるのかと思いお尋ねです。
今後の配信も楽しみにしています。まだまだ暑いのでお体に気をつけて。
Interesting question.
That's an interesting question.
Do you, you don't have, you don't have any memory.
I do, I do have my memories, just making sure.
Okay, okay.
I've lost most of them, but I do have bits and pieces.
Okay, okay.
Memories are funny because like important events you don't remember, like me, but like these random weird moments you do remember.
True.
I think that happens to a lot of people, right?
Yeah.
You remember all these like weird moments.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
One of our friends.
Okay.
The programming guy.
The programming, yeah.
He told me the other day, we talked about this in a conversation.
Yeah.
And he said that he remembers the moment he got his jigger.
Really?
He said he remembers that he, the moment he's got his jigger and he felt like,
あ、今ジガー思った。
Really?
That's what he said.
That's impossible.
That's impossible.
And I'm like, no.
But he was like, いや、本当だって。
That's impossible.
It can't be true.
And then that's funny.
What is JIGA?
Wait, so a baby's born, doesn't have JIGA?
That's what it's said.
Science says?
Yeah.
Wait, so what's the definition of JIGA?
So, JIGA is the concept of you, yourself, are individual you.
Okay.
It's said, like, you are very, like, babies.
When you're babies, you don't know, for example, like, you were in mother's body, right?
Okay.
You don't know you are you.
It's connected and you don't have mom.
There's no concept of mom, me, world, or desk and everything.
But on one point, we got the concept of, oh, this is, like, I am, like, this is me, kind of.
03:06
I am one individual human being.
Yeah, I have this mind inside, own thought.
So is that an educational thing?
You don't have to be taught to get JIGA.
No, it's just naturally.
So you learn by seeing what's around you of, like, oh, this is a moving body, has two legs.
Oh, I'm like that.
Oh, I must be one of them.
Is that how it goes?
Yeah, maybe.
Does, do JIGA, so if you're in a world where you're the only human being, do you think you'll ever get JIGA?
Yeah.
When you're in your own, okay, you're stuck in this one room forever, ever since you were born.
Okay, okay.
And there's, like, food that's thrown into your room and you cannot see other human beings or other mammals.
You can't see other live things.
Just food and water is thrown at you.
And so do you ever get JIGA?
I don't know.
I have no idea.
Yeah.
But including, like, I mean, honestly, I don't know, but hungry is one of the JIGA, right?
I'm hungry.
Oh, true.
True.
Yeah.
It has nothing to do with this wall.
Right, right, right.
True.
Or, for example, like, I hit to the, like, desk and it hurts.
And that's mine.
That's me.
Yeah.
Oh, that's true.
That's JIGA.
Yeah.
That's true.
So, maybe...
Interesting.
Yeah, very interesting.
Okay, okay, okay.
I see, I see.
Yeah.
But, for example, like, dogs and all those cats and animals, they have, like...
They have JIGA?
I think so.
Dogs act like they know themselves, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I don't know about ants, though.
Like, ants and, like, snakes and...
That's right.
That's true.
But, like, they hide, right?
True.
That's JIGA.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But maybe they don't know, for example, ants.
They don't know they are individual themselves, but controlled by, like, their instincts.
Having no JIGA and just...
I see.
That's true.
Do everything for the species, kind of.
That's true.
Maybe.
I mean, ants never...
It's crazy to think that ants have never seen their bodies.
What do you mean?
They've never seen their bodies, right?
They can't just...
They can't just look down and look at their bodies, right?
They've never seen their bodies.
Really?
They don't?
They don't do some kind of cleaning themselves, no?
06:01
But, okay, maybe the bendable parts you can see.
But they've never seen, like, the back of their ass.
That's true.
That's true.
Right?
They don't see the back, but...
That's interesting.
Yeah.
Oh, true.
I've heard the story that, you know, the mirror...
Yeah.
And if you don't have JIGA, you put your mirror in front of you,
and you can't understand what is this.
You can't understand.
It's just...
Wow.
Yeah, but if you have JIGA, and you understand,
oh, this is me, kind of.
Wow.
That's what...
Ooh, that's interesting.
Yeah, I've heard.
Oh, okay.
I see.
Oh.
I see.
So maybe ants in front of the mirror...
They would not know.
Yeah.
They would not know what's in front of them, so they don't have JIGA.
Do dogs know?
Some dogs are pretty stupid, right?
Like, they would go in front of the mirror,
and they would try to, like, do it, right?
Yeah.
And, like, walking around, running around the mirror.
Right.
Interesting.
Interesting, yeah.
But, like, the oldest memory that I have...
Oldest?
You mean the...
Oh, wow.
That's a...
You say oldest memory, not youngest.
Oldest.
Oh, I see.
I see.
Old as in age you're talking about.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, I'm talking about old as in, like, when the memory went into my file box.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Wow.
Oh, that's interesting.
Yeah.
Do you understand if I say, like, the youngest memory?
Well, that's, like, five minutes ago.
That's the youngest memory.
Wow.
Because you put the memory in your memory box folder.
It's the newest memory.
That's new.
Youngest.
That's the young.
Wow.
So the memory itself is aging right now.
Yeah.
Oh, I see.
Oh, that's something we...
You guys don't want to...
Yeah, it's a good phrase, I guess.
Good phrase, yeah.
Old.
Oldest memory.
Yeah, but we say old memory.
Yeah, old memories.
Good old memory.
Yeah, good old memories.
Oh, true.
So in that logic, it makes sense, right?
Yeah, true.
Yeah.
But, yeah, I understand how that could be confusing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But the oldest memory I have of mine...
Okay.
So we moved some countries.
Like, I was just not only in the US, but I was also in...
Okay.
When I was very little.
And I remember I was inside...
Like, I was with my sister.
We were all very young, very little.
Like, I don't know, like three or something.
Okay.
And we were like, we're talking about getting a pet dog.
Oh.
And I was with my sister under a table...
Okay.
In front of the...
Okay.
And we were talking about...
My sister was talking about the name of the dog.
That's the memory that I remember.
Wow.
Yeah.
It's like you under the table, right?
I was under the table with my sister in front of the door.
09:00
In front of the genkan.
Oh, in front of the door.
Yeah.
Wow.
That's like you guys were hiding from somebody.
I don't know why we were under the table.
I don't think we were hiding.
I think we were just...
I don't know.
It was our favorite spot or something.
I don't know.
But it was...
We were there.
I mean, it's very random.
It's random.
It is so random.
Very, very random.
Yeah.
My oldest memory.
Okay.
I'm not sure if it's my real actual memory.
Yeah, or your delusion.
Yeah, those.
But I remember my mom was holding me.
And some kind of...
I don't know what she's doing.
But I was fell down from her arms.
Oh, okay.
And then I remember the floor was getting close to me.
And then that's it.
I guess that's...
You don't know after that.
You don't know what happened.
I remember after that.
But I guess that's...
I think that's the oldest.
Like PTSD memory?
No?
I mean...
You don't remember because it's scary, no?
It's just a random memory.
Yeah, it's just random.
Yeah.
I see.
But I'm not sure if that was actual memory or just made up.
Yeah.
Came from a dream or something.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's possible, right?
But very young.
You were very young.
Yeah, because my mom was carrying me.
You were a baby.
Like an infant, right?
Yeah.
Very baby.
Oh, wow.
So I'm doubting it wasn't true.
Yeah.
Impossible.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
Interesting.
Yeah.
All right.
Thanks for listening, guys.
Thank you.
Bye-bye.
